The Danish ESS simulation group uses McStas for simulations of components of neutron scattering such as e.g. guides and instruments and collaborates with expert users of Vitess. By comparing results from the two simulation tools a verification of simulations can be obtained.
McStas
McStas is a general tool for simulating neutron scattering instruments and experiments. It is actively supported by DTU Physics, NBI KU, PSI and ILL.

Vitess is a virtual instrumentation tool for neutron scattering simulation. It is actively supported by Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB).
