I am working on coatings/multilayer coatings for neutron guides and other neutron optic. By changing the traditional Ni/Ti coating in a elliptical neutron guide one can increase the reflectivity and reduce the prompt gamma ray from absorbed neutrons.

I have been working the last 10 years making multilayer coatings for hard X-ray astronomy, among other things coated the optic for NuSTAR (a NASA hard X-ray satellite) which will be launched in February 2012.
